Jaycee served as a consultant for the "My South Speaks" campaign, which was filmed at the McGlohin Theater at Spirit Square. This episode was aired on Turner South broadcasting in 2005.
Extreme Home Makeover extended an invitation for Jaycee to host a fundraiser at Symphony Park, in South Park, to raise money for the King Family in July 2008.
In 2008, Jaycee began going into the high schools doing poetry programs with elementary, middle and high school students.

Jaycee Cowan was born in Ft. Polk Louisiana and raised partially in Fayetteville NC. His father, originating from New Orleans, was military so the family traveled extensively and Jaycee spent most of his teen years in Europe. Ultimately, the family settled in in Columbia, SC.

After high school, Jaycee enlisted in the U.S. Army, and did several tours overseas earning the status of a "Veteran of Foreign War". Desert Storm was his first tour of duty in conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1993.
In 2000, Jaycee moved to Charlotte, N.C. with the ambition of working for himself. He enrolled in "Just for You" Barber College and graduated in 2001.

From 2002 to 2003, Jaycee was asked to do a show on "The Breakfast Brothers Morning Show", on Power 98 with BJ Murphy, Nate Quick, Tone X, and J.D. The show gave him great exposure to the city of Charlotte which helped his vision for poetry in the city.
Returning in 2006 on Power 98, Jaycee was asked to transfer to 92.7 with Jay Delai on Fridays for an hour long show at 1pm called "Focus Fridays", which lasted about 9 months.
Continuing his movement in poetry, Jaycee, DJ Live & DJ DR started "Poetry In Motion" at Liquid Lounge in 2002. From that point on, poetry has been consistent in Charlotte, having at least one showcase event per week. Determination allowed Jaycee to start performing with a band in 2004 at the Bricktop Lounge. Jaycee moved his poetry moved to The Wine Up in 2005.
